Poetry: a Glass Garden
Poetry: a Glass Garden is the new artistic project promoted by Ca’ Sagredo on the occasion of the 2019 Venice Biennale, after the big success of Lorenzo Quinn’s “hands” , Support for Ca’ Sagredo, in 2017.
Created by the Venetian artist Marco Nereo Rotelli together with the glass furnace Massimiliano Schiavon Art Team, the project involved the poets Yang Lian (China) and Adonis (Syria), candidates for the Nobel Prize for Literature, the Cuban poet Victor Rodriguez Núñez and the American novelist Mark Axelrod.
The doors of the Sagredos’ ancient home in Campo Santa Sofia and on the Grand Canal are marked by monumental installations, composed of ancient and ruined bricole recovered from the Venice Lagoon, and of colorful and rich bouquets of Murano blown glass stems.
Inside the Palace, the visitors are able to see the golden doors painted by Marco Nereo Rotelli, the paintings created directly at Ca’ Sagredo by Adonis and the glass books made by the writers in the furnace of Massimiliano Schiavon.
